disabilities.
“It takes a village to raise our kids”
Live your life with purpose
Tuesday, February 7th, 2012
All too often, we are caught up with the hustle and bustle of the day, that we don’t stop and think about what we are doing. I have made a conscious decision to do the things in my life that have meaning and purpose. Life is too short and very precious to me to walk around aimlessly. My work and continued development of AILH is extremely meaningful and has great purpose. It was created with the intent to offer consumers with disabilities a choice on where to receive services. I want to ensure the community that chosing AILH will be a meaningful experience for you as you meet and get to know our staff. You will be in good hands.
It takes a village to raise our children.

This phrase rings true even more so today during these tough economic times. As a young girl, I remember how I would be mindful of my behavior because somewhere either Aunty or Uncle or Cousin would see me and if I was not behaving appropriately, I would be scolded by them and then get more from parents when I got home. Our children today need everyone’s help to raise them to become responsible, caring and giving individuals. AILH is committed to having our youth give back to their communities and to meet and learn from our Seniors. We are doing this by having our Seniors volunteer to come into our Kahuku office to teach our youth a skill or trade. We hope that by fostering these relationships, we can go back to the days of having everyone in our “village” , now referred to as community, help to raise the children of today.
